Phi Phi Islands National Park Fee And New Diving Rules

Phi Phi Islands National Park Fee And New Diving Rules

Phi Phi National Park Fees Reduced For 2022

From 2015 the Phi Phi Islands National Park jumped fee to THB 400 for all tourists and an extra THB 200 for divers. For 2022 this has been reduced to a THB 200 entry fee and THB 200 for divers. At first fees were collected sporadically but now park officials have set up a floating pontoon where all boats have to report. They also have a speedboat so they can board boats who “forget” to report.

We’re not sure if this is a permanent reduction or just for 2022 to help attract tourists. Anyway it’s good news for the time being. The price for Thai nationals will remain the same so THB 40 entry fee and THB 200 diving fee. Entry price fee for children of all nationalities will be THB 100

No Discover Scuba Diving At Phi Phi

In an effort to preserve the health of corals around Phi Phi. The Discover Scuba Diving programmes have been banned from Koh Bida Nok, Koh Bida Nai and Phi Phi Ley. The aforementioned are the best dive sites at Phi Phi and the where we visit on our day trips. Discover Scuba Diving will only be available at the Racha Islands.

Get Out! Maya Bay Will Be Closed In Low Season

The new restrictions should not be a big blow to perspective Discover Scuba Diving students. The Racha islands are far more favourable, so we always recommend them for your first scuba diving experience.

As long as the rules are enforced then it should hopefully see an improvement in the health of the reefs. So for this reason alone we have to say that the new rules are a good thing.

Seasonal Dive Site Closures

This will have a slight impact in low season. Turtle Rock, Palong Wall, Maya Bay (The Beach), Loh Samah Bay and many dive sites around the main Phi Phi Island will be closed from 15th May to 31st October. Koh Bida Nok, Koh Bida Nai and Viking Cave will remain open throughout the year.

In truth most of these rules have been around for a long time but have never been enforced. They are now being strictly enforced so you will need an extra THB 400 to dive the Phi Phi Islands National Park

I've been enjoying the incredible marine life in our oceans for over 25 years. 13 years ago I became a PADI professional in Phuket, hoping to introduce as many people as possible to the incredible beauty of the seas.

Having been fortunate enough to dive all over south east and especially Thailand, I enjoy sharing my diving experiences and passion on this blog.

Originally from Bristol in the UK, I swapped the frigid waters of the North Atlantic for the warm tropical seas around Thailand and can confidently say that I wouldn't go back

Diving Phuket With Hawksbill Turtles

Turtle Rock – Phi Phi Ley

If you want to go diving with turtles then Turtle Rock is the dive site for you. It's very rare that we don't see hawksbill turtles and usually more than one. They feed on the shallow shelves that run along the wall at Koh Phi Phi Ley. So shallow that snorkelers can usually see them. Quite often your safety stop is spent observing the turtles munching away on the bubble corals. They've got pretty used to divers over the years and seem to be c [...]

Diving WIth Alien In Phuket Rare & Peculiar Critters

Diving With Aliens

Ridley Scott's alien monster has had people hiding behind the couch for over 30 years. In Phuket we scuba dive everyday with an animal that has the same fearsome set of double jaws. Luckily the penchant for snacking on humans isn't also emulated. All bony fish have a set of pharyngeal teeth in their throat but moray eels have a complete pharyngeal second jaw that they can launch forward and use to swallow their unfortunate victims. Consi [...]
